How long would it take to change a distributor, distributor cap, spark plug wires and spark plugs?

Also, when buying spare parts like these, would it be o.k. to get the most expensive kind from AutoZone, or should I get some O.E.M. parts from somewhere, and where is the best place to get the O.E.M. parts? How long would it take to change a distributor, distributor cap, spark plug wires and spark plugs?
Any replacement will do, if your a novice it will take about 5 hours to do it.How long would it take to change a distributor, distributor cap, spark plug wires and spark plugs?
I bought a distributor remanufactured by A1 Cardone last year from Rockauto.com for my 5.0 L Ford.

It included a new electronics module and was half the price of the Motorcraft distributor from the same source. I have used Cardone remanufactured products for decades and never had a problem.

Replacing the distributor on this engine was easy. The only tricky part was making sure the 1 piston was at TDC before removing the old distributor. A compression gauge in the 1 piston spark plug hole made that easy too. we see this type of question all the time and all i can say is it all depends on your ability, what type of engine or vehicle it is, and what it is you are trying to accomplish. try chris mohring @ mohringraceparts.com for your parts. price and service are excellent. How long would it take to change a distributor, distributor cap, spark plug wires and spark plugs?
The time it would take depends on the vehicle you're changing them on and Autozone would be an okay place to get the stuff from. Just make sure you make them double check that the stuff they're selling you is correct for your vehicle. How long would it take to change a distributor, distributor cap, spark plug wires and spark plugs?
it depends on what kind of car. Its not unusual to hear ford probe owners replacing the distributer 3 different times with rebuild distys... a cheaply made product is a cheaply made product. its rebuilt using the original parts, so they will fail too. you would have to look around for your cars online forum... its a collection of enthusiast who own certain cars... they can tell you what the most common problems are, and if you should buy an aftermarket or rebuilt.

I think it was a mercedes that had to have the engine removed to get to the spark plugs, so it could take hours upon hours. If you have a civic, youre looking at about 1 hour for all of it.

if you have a car that doesnt have an aftermarket, you might not be able to buy a non oe distributer. How long would it take to change a distributor, distributor cap, spark plug wires and spark plugs?
Depending on how tight of space you have to work in will determine how long it will take you. IF this is your first time ever doing it, it will take you considerably longer than if you had done it before. As for the parts go, I would get the more expensive ones, as for you get what you pay for. I put Accel wires in my truck, along with Bosch plat plugs like 3 yrs ago, and it still runs fine to this day. As for the oil, I use synthetic, and I found it pays to spend a little extra on the parts in the long run.How long would it take to change a distributor, distributor cap, spark plug wires and spark plugs?

it depends a lot on what your working on. anywhere from 45 mins. to 6 or 7 hours. get O.E. parts if you can, they're worth the extra money. there's not much I would buy from autozone other than chemicals and filters. domestic O.E. parts can be purchased from most auto parts like O Reilly's, Napa, CarQuest and such. import, its best to go to the dealer.
